Restoring deleted files in ZumoDrive

Problem

"Oh No! I just deleted files in my ZumoDrive accidentally! How do I get it back??"

or

"OMG my files are gone! They were just there yesterday! Where did they go?"

Description

All files deleted from ZumoDrive, whether it is done by a desktop client, mobile client, or website, are moved into the ZumoDrive Recycle Bin online. Files are kept in the recycle bin for at least 7 days, after which the servers will begin emptying the recycle bins and those files will then be permanently deleted.

FYI: Files in the ZumoDrive Recycle Bin are not counted against your storage quota.

"But I didn't delete the files, why is it gone?" some of you may ask. Well, if you share a folder with other users and given them edit permission, it also gives them the ability to delete files from that folder. It's possible that someone you shared your files with accidentally deleted them.

Solution

In any case, to restore your deleted files, follow the following steps:

  1. Go to the ZumoDrive website at www.zumodrive.com
  2. Login with the ZumoDrive account that owns the deleted files. The deleted file will only be in the Recycle Bin of the original owner of the file, even if it was deleted by someone it was shared to.
    (For example if John shared his "Dog Photos" folder with Adam, and Adam deletes MyDog.jpg file inside "Dog Photos", MyDog.jpg wil go into John's Recycle Bin, not Adam's, because it is John's photo.)
  3. On the upper left of the page, below the ZumoDrive logo, click on "My ZumoDrive" drop down, and select "Recycle Bin".
  4. Wait for the Recycle Bin page to load. If there are lots of files in the Recycle Bin, it can take a minute or two to load, and it'll look like nothing is happening. But don't worry, the page will update when it is done.
  5. Check the files you want to restore, and click on the "Restore" link on the right side of the page. This will put the file or folder back to its orignal location in your ZumoDrive

Remember: Data in the ZumoDrive Recycle Bin are only safe for 7 days. After which they will be cleaned up automatically by the Zumo servers.
